How it's made

Wireframe to final pixel.

The featured breakdowns below are the real thing: two delivered shots from Testament, rebuilt pass by pass from their own comp scripts — crowd tiles, CG, real fire elements, smoke, grade.

THE ANATOMY OF A SHOTFIG. 01 · TESTAMENT · 8 PASSES

Every finished frame is a stack of decisions.

This is a real delivered shot from Testament, rebuilt from the passes in its own comp script. The production shot a handful of extras; the crowd was built in camera-matched tiles, each pass carrying just its own people, topped with CG sprites and assembled. Then the watcher himself is roto'd out and returned on top, and the grade lands last. Move across the plate and watch each pass drop onto the one before it. Move up to fan the stack apart.

THE BURNING HOUSEFIG. 02 · TESTAMENT · SAUL · 6 PASSES

Nothing burned on the night.

Saul's men gathered outside a house that was never on fire. Watch it build: the CG building lands already burning behind its windows, real flame elements rise in front of it, smoke and embers settle over everything, and the roto'd men return on top so the blaze burns behind them. Same controls: across to build, up to fan.

THE FIRE, SHOT FOR REALFIG. 03 · TESTAMENT · PENTECOST

When the story asks for fire, we don't fake the fire.

For Testament's Pentecost sequence we put real flame in front of a real camera — an element shoot on stage, against dark brick. The elements were retimed, layered and composited around the cast, so the finished frame carries light that actually burned. Simulation is a tool we use; a practical element is a truth we keep when the shot deserves it.

A note on what you're seeing

Two real breakdowns. The rest stays private.

The Testament breakdowns at the top of this page are delivered work we're credited on, rebuilt from their own comp scripts and shown at reel resolution. Everything else we've delivered is shown privately, under NDA, because most of the work you'd want to see is work we're contractually not allowed to publish.

Want to see the real thing?

The breakdowns that matter most are the private ones.

Send us a note and we'll walk you through real shot breakdowns under NDA — the plates, the problems, and exactly how each frame was solved.
